Specification highlights

    • Are there accessories available for the new SIGMA cine lenses (standard and sold separately)?

Yes, the cine lens accessories include an exclusive lens foot (standard), front and rear lens caps (standard), and an exclusive Pelican Case (sold separately).
    • What is the angle of rotation of the focus ring of the new SIGMA cine lenses?

      It is 180°.
    • What is the angle of rotation of the zoom ring of the new SIGMA cine lenses?

      It is 160°.
    • What is the angle of rotation of the iris ring of the new SIGMA cine lenses?

      It is 60°.
    • What is the front diameter of the new SIGMA cine lenses?

      It is 95mm.
    • What is the screw diameter of the lens foot and distance between screws?

The screw diameter is 0.25 inches and the distance between screws is 15mm.

    • Does the camera upload and record meta data from the new SIGMA cine lenses?

The lens mount establishes an electronic connection with the camera, allowing lens data to be transmitted (focal length, shooting distance, aperture, etc.). The data that is recorded varies by camera.
Note: This feature is not included on PL mount lenses.
    • Are the SIGMA cine zoom lenses parfocal?

In general, a perfectly parfocal lens production is nearly impossible. SIGMA goes through great lengths to reduce focus shift throughout the zoom range. However, as is the case with most cine zoom lenses, the SIGMA cine zooms are nearly parfocal.

    • Does focus breathing occur with the new SIGMA cine lenses?

Each model is different. In certain models, focus breathing may seem to occur more than in lenses designed exclusively as cine lenses.
    • Do the new SIGMA cine lenses offer dust- and splash-proof construction?

Yes, they have a dust- and -splash-proof specification (the same as 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM | Sports).
    • Are all of the cine lenses you plan to launch of the same size?

The lenses we have currently launched all have the same front diameter, but their lengths are all different. All of the lenses have the same gear diameter and positions as well. Respective numbers for future lenses are still to be determined.
    • How is firmware updated, and what lens parameters can be adjusted?

The SIGMA USB DOCK can be used to update firmware. For further information on the SIGMA USB DOCK, click here.

    • Can mounts be converted for use with other camera bodies? Can users convert mounts themselves?

Yes, SIGMA cine lens mounts may be converted for use with other camera bodies by SIGMA subsidiaries and dealers. Please contact your local SIGMA dealer or service provider for the Mount Conversion Service. Mounts are unable to be converted by users.

    • Why are the PL mounts not covered by the Mount conversion service?

The internal mechanism of the SIGMA PL mount cine lenses are very different from EF mount and E mount. Therefore to change the mount, we need to dismantle the whole lens. To guarantee the performance of the lens once dismantled, it requires the same exclusive equipment as building a lens from scratch.
Considering the delivery date and cost, we have not covered PL mount for the mount conversion service.

    • Does the Mount Conversion Service incur a fee?

Yes, a fee is required for the Mount Conversion Service. Please click here for information about costs and applicable lens models.
    • Can commercially available mount adaptors be used with the SIGMA cine lenses?

The SIGMA cine lenses are compatible with SIGMA Mount Converter MC-11, which allows SIGMA lenses with the EF mount to be used with Sony E-mount camera bodies. For further information about this accessory, please click here.
    • Is the optical system of each SIGMA cine lens the same as that of the SIGMA still photo lens with the same focal length?

Yes, it is the same in order to leverage the outstanding optical performance of SIGMA GLOBAL VISION lenses, which have earned a worldwide reputation for their excellence. The lens cells, aperture mechanical system, and overall optical system are the same as that of the still photo lens of the same focal length.
    • Are the SIGMA cine lenses compatible with other manufacturers' cameras?

The new cine lenses each have models compatible with the Canon EF mount, Sony E-mount, and Arri PL mount, allowing them to be used by the main cine cameras on the market. For further information, please click here.

    • Are the new SIGMA cine lenses interchangeable with their SIGMA still lens counterparts (i.e., system compatibility)?

Yes. The coatings are also the same, simplifying color correction.
    • How do SIGMA's cine lenses and still photo lenses differ?

Our cine lenses feature a completely updated mechanical system. We have also given them a choice range of functions to optimize them for modern cinematography. Further, each of our cine lenses features dust- and -splash-proof construction and larger angles of rotation for the iris, focus, and zoom rings.
    • What makes the optical system of SIGMA cine lenses superior to that of competitors' cine lenses?

SIGMA cine lenses have the resolving power needed to make them fully ready for 6-8K shooting, as well as a design that minimizes ghosting and flare. The lineup also includes models that offer full-frame image sensor coverage. SIGMA cine lenses combine outstanding image quality and compactness in a way that truly distinguishes them from competitors.
